About CrossFit Kids

SCHEDULE:  Tuesday & Thursday  – 3:30-4:15pm

COST: Full Session, $225

What will my child gain from participating in CrossFit Kids?

We will build strength and body awareness starting at the core. The classes are based around having fun and working hard. The muscular around the core protects the most vital organs in our body and assists the extremities in moving effectively. Engaging the core properly will spill over into sport and life. We hope to build confidence & strength in each child while having fun!

CrossFit Aptos Kids makes fitness and health fun, setting the stage for a lifelong love of movement!

Your child will gain physical strength and mental awareness. In addition, you will see your child learning new skills, notice them making better food choices, becoming more focused in school, transitioning to new sports easier, and having a reduced risk of sports-related injury.

CrossFit Aptos Kids is a medium through which you will see your children become the best version of themselves. The tool we use is physical fitness, but our philosophy is that training CrossFit increases quality of life, both inside and outside the gym—children learn to become leaders and successful human beings.

Our Commitment:

• We will build your child’s self esteem.

• We will provide a safe and positive learning environment.

• We promote the importance of health and fitness for a lifetime.

• We will have a lot of FUN!

What we teach?

We will be playing on the pull-up bars, pressing off the ground, jumping in the air, kicking upside-down, climbing up ropes, practicing holds, walking on all limbs and running fast.  We will expose them to good technique and practice practice practice.

Specifically, CrossFit Aptos Kids teaches the 10 General Physical Skills. These skills are the base for any sport or discipline your child may pursue.

The 10 General Physical Skills

Cardiovascular Endurance – Can you get enough oxygen to your body?

Stamina – Can you maintain your energy?

Strength – Can you lift yourself or a friend?

Flexibility – Can you touch your toes?

Power – How much work can you do in the least amount of time?

Speed – How fast can you go?

Coordination – Can you pat your head and rub your stomach?

Accuracy – Can you kick a soccer ball into the net?

Agility – How quickly can you change direction?

Balance – Can you stand on one foot? With your eyes shut?

Programs

CrossFit Aptos currently offers Four Kids programs every year.

  • Early Spring 2018 – Functional Gymnastics
  • Late Spring 2018 – CrossFit Kids
  • Early Fall 2018 – CrossFit Kids
  • Late Fall 2018 – CrossFit Kids

Kids (Ages 6-11): – (Ages 12 – 18, check out the teens program)

The skills this age groups learns are more detailed and may involve light weights. Exercises will include plyometrics, gymnastics, weightlifting basics, running, rowing, and stretching. Classes continue to include game play and positive reinforcement, as well as discussions on what was learned in each class. We also aid in developing leadership skills. As children progress through the program, they will be asked to model movements, lead exercises and demonstrate an ability to verbally explain exercises.
